Celebrating 40+ Years of Caring for Our Community
Island Chiropractic has proudly served Whidbey Island and surrounding communities since January 1983, when Dr. Patricia Wasson, DC, opened the practice. After several years of practicing in Anacortes, her husband, Dr. Robert Shelly, DC, joined the team in 1992. In 2025, we welcomed Dr. Lisa Pfeffer, DC, further strengthening our commitment to whole-family wellness.
From the beginning, our mission has been simple:
To provide skilled chiropractic care with love and compassion.

About me:
I view myself as a "body mechanic" in the realm of chiropractic. Just as an adept mechanic meticulously fine-tunes every component of a vehicle, I apply this same level of precision and care to the intricate workings of the human body. My approach to chiropractic care is rooted in a deep understanding of the body's biomechanics, aiming to optimize function and restore balance.
When I'm not adjusting spines and alleviating discomfort, you'll often find me amidst the beauty of nature, hiking trails or cycling through scenic landscapes. Nature serves as both my sanctuary and inspiration, fueling my commitment to holistic well-being.
Off-duty, I indulge my passion for craftsmanship through carpentry, where I find joy in transforming raw materials into meaningful creations. This hands-on pursuit reflects my philosophy of patient care - crafting tailored solutions with skill and dedication.
With a profound dedication to the art and science of chiropractic, coupled with a genuine appreciation for the wonders of the natural world, I am committed to helping you achieve optimal health and vitality. Welcome to a journey of healing and wellness.

Lisa Pfeffer, DC
We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Lisa Pfeffer to Island Chiropractic! A skilled and compassionate chiropractor, Dr. Lisa brings over a decade of experience and a deep passion for helping people live their healthiest, most active lives.
Her journey into chiropractic care began as a competitive horseback rider. Growing up in the Skagit Valley, she received chiropractic treatment from her best friend’s parents—Drs. Bob and Patty—which helped her stay strong and injury-free in the saddle. That care inspired her to pursue a career in chiropractic, with the goal of helping others the way they once helped her.
Dr. Lisa graduated cum laude from Life Chiropractic College West in December 2013 and has been Advanced Proficiency Rated in Activator Methods® since 2012. She also has training in the Graston Technique (IASTM: Instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation) and has participated in international chiropractic mission trips to El Salvador and Jamaica.
For Dr. Lisa, the most rewarding part of her work is building genuine connections with patients and helping them feel their best through natural, gentle care. She especially enjoys supporting individuals and families through all stages of life, including pregnancy and pediatric care.
When she’s not helping patients be their healthiest selves, Dr. Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, traveling, and anything that keeps her active.
Dr. Lisa is now seeing patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays
